WILDHOOD Festival
WILDHOOD is an award-winning, family-focused cultural festival welcoming families with children aged 12 and under.
Taking place each summer in the grounds and woodland of Tullibole Castle, WILDHOOD offers a carefully curated weekend of outdoor adventure, live music, theatre, storytelling, nature play and hands-on creativity - all included within the ticket price.
The Festival Experience
WILDHOOD is rooted in the idea of “we time” - shared experiences that allow families to slow down, reconnect and play together.
The festival is intentionally:
Unplugged and screen-light
Safe, welcoming and down-to-earth
Led by curiosity, creativity and nature
Programming draws on folklore, history, traditional arts and contemporary culture, with the countryside itself becoming part of the experience.
Families are invited to explore, wander and camp within the enchanting grounds of Tullibole Castle, set amongst ancient woodland, parkland and hidden corners. Along the way, visitors encounter the 17th-century castle, a historic maze, a moat, secret spaces and a few carefully placed surprises - encouraging discovery at every turn.
At its heart, WILDHOOD is about stepping away from the everyday and rediscovering life’s simpler pleasures.
Place & Setting
Tullibole Castle provides a unique and characterful setting for the WlLDHOOD Kingdom. Its landscape - a mix of open parkland, woodland paths and historic features - allows WILDHOOD to unfold organically, with different activities embedded throughout the site rather than concentrated in one area.
This approach supports:
A calmer festival flow
Space for different energy levels
Opportunities for quiet, play and spectacle to coexist
Accessibility & Inclusion
WILDHOOD is committed to being as inclusive and accessible as possible.
We are proud to work in partnership with PAMIS (Providing Access to More Independent Services) to continually improve access provision across the festival. This work informs ongoing development around:
Sensory and quiet spaces
Access support and stewarding
Clear communication and advance information
Inclusive programming and audience care
A short film documenting this collaboration is available below.
